@geetakrishna The lesson plan requires URL for external resources that will be used to deliver the lesson you are creating. So for instance, if you are creating a lesson plan to teach supply and demand, you would be including URLs for the resources that will assist in teaching that particular concept. The URL required is not for the lesson plan you are submitting but for all the resources you have included in the lesson plan. Hope this clarifies it further. All the best.
@geetakrishna there are many OER repositories that you can submit your resource to. @tmays had shared the Fiji OER site: https://fji.oer4pacific.org/. The focus for this course is to create open resources to be able to populate such repositories. Once your resource is submitted and approved, you can then provide a link to that particular resource in your documents.
@jacki For the Completion Progress block, you will need to manually check the section on Important Message on Moodle for the Image resource and Diagram remix challenge. Please refer to the image below to see where you need to manually click on the check box to acknowledge that you have read the message. Hope this helps.
Bula @jacki, I have double checked and your resource has been approved. Not sure why you got an email stating it was rejected. You can ignore that email and continue with the course.
Hi @geetakrishna, you can always provide a link to the video resource. So if you find a relevant video resource for your lesson on YouTube/Vimeo, you can provide a link to that resource in the lesson plan (e.g. URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxTDE8B31Vw). Also by providing a link to the resource, you are not in breach of copyright. Hope this helps.
Hi @sereatoga_jokapeci2021, CC BY license is by far the most compatible and accommodating of licenses available. The exception is with ND licensed resources as they do not permit remixes or derivative works. As such, CC BY is compatible with CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA. The other thing to note is to license your adaptation or derivative work using the most restrictive license of the original works. @penearopio A great take-home message 👍. You will recall that by default, the 6 CC licenses have the Attribution (BY) as part of the license. This means that regardless of the CC licenses, one must give appropriate credit to the original creator or author (BY).
@kenesi56804 Definitely, it would be great to have a national day dedicated to OER. I am of the view that this day should be used to showcase the output/resources that teachers have put together over a period of time. Moreover, there needs to be a systematic approach to develop/adapt OERs as not everyone needs to focus on the same content. This will save time and ensure a broader coverage and better quality output. Afterwards, it could be compiled as a single resource and distributed. #ds4oers
@geetakrishna just recently it was announced in the Fiji media that Fiji topped the list for the cheapest cost for one gigabyte of data in Oceania in a worldwide survey on data charges conducted by cable.co.uk. With the continuous focus on infrastructure development, one can hope for the costs to be reduced even further. This will be a great enabler for digital technologies.
@geetakrishna I think that importing content is not necessarily a bad thing. One of the key benefits of using openly licensed resource (license permitting) is that teachers are free to adapt, revise, and modify content to suit the teaching curriculum and their needs. This is the area where more focus or attention is needed. For e.g. teachers could include contextualised examples/scenarios which could make the subjects or concepts easier to understand.
